BIOGRAPHY
Born in Hialeah, Florida 1968
Artist Jorge Barrios was born to Cuban parents that migrated to the United States from Cuba. From an early age Barrios learned that creativity was his strength and was fortunate enough to have teachers that motivated and inspired him in creating art. Following numerous awards and achievements in high school, he graduated and moved on to pursuing commercial advertising, which became the main focus of his career.
Throughout most of his adult life, his creative talent was mostly dedicated to graphics, today Barrios expresses his artistic talent on canvas, which comes from his Cuban culture and his passion for the arts. His work is influenced and inspired by renowned Cuban Master Artist Amelia Pelaez and by his three children, Sofia, Jake and Ryan.
His most recent work, is colorful, vibrant, expressive and impactful. Themes vary from abstract to surrealism, but he always remains true to his Cuban culture. The mediums of choice are acrylic on canvas and mixed media.
He admits that he intends to stay focused, on using new creative colors and mediums, as he moves forward with his career. He suggests, the best is yet to come “Inspirations will surely come from my life’s joys and challenges”.
