Claude Marshall

Bakersfield, CA

 

Acclaimed International artist Claude Marshall, studied art at Art Instruction schools in Minneapolis, MN and majored in art, and ceramics at Schenley High in Pittsburgh, PA.
 

Marshall’s started painting at the young age of seventeen, and won numerous awards, Fox Chapel Art Festival, North Miami Beach Art Festival, Hollywood Museum of Art. He exhibited, and sold several of his paintings at the Fountainebleau Hotel Gallery, Miami Beach, FL. Pilgrim Gallery & Circus Gallery in Palm Beach, FL. The Antique Guild, Los Angeles, CA.

He worked as an artist for Gimbels Department Stores, Pittsburgh, PA. Carter, Hawley & Hale Department Stores, Los Angeles, CA. He was a graphic artist/designer for fifteen years in Los Angeles, CA for The Los Angeles Times Newspaper, worked five years as the art director for the Long Beach Civic Light Opera Theatre, Long Beach, CA. also worked eight years as the graphic artist/designer for The Sun-Sentinel/Chicago Tribune Newspaper, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Plus other numerous freelance accounts.

As a painter, Marshall’s is famous for his colorful paintings of angels, vivid rainy city scenes, landscape’s, emotions of past, and present. He works with acrylics, using a knife to get bold, and instant colors. He finds the palette knife, to be a great tool of expression, and reaches the public, through the use of dramatic colors, textures, and style.

 

"It's not what you paint, but how you paint it". When I had a renowned artist/painter tell me at a juried art show who was one of the judges, to "let the painting tell the story, let the people see what they want to see in the painting." I followed his advice, sold, and won numerous awards since then. I like to paint with bright, bold color, and awareness of light, to capture a mood, and a lot of feeling in my art work. Everything you do, see or touch, involves the wonderful world of art.
